This site provides web-service based access to data and metadata from the envirodiy data network using the WOFpy server software. SOAP and REST interfaces to CUAHSI WaterOneFlow (WOF) web services are available, delivering information in the CUAHSI WaterML 1.1 and 1.0 standard XML formats. CUAHSI WOF was developed as a standard mechanism for the transfer of hydrologic and similar earth science data between servers and users. Conventionally, CUAHSI WOF is defined as a SOAP service, and most client software will make use of the SOAP end points. WOFpy also provides REST services analogous to the SOAP service requests.
WOFpy also provides prototype REST access to data and metadata in the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) WaterML 2 XML format; use these services with caution, as they are experimental and not extensively tested yet.
See the resources below to obtain SOAP and REST service endpoints for different WOF and WaterML versions, and to explore REST sample requests and responses. SOAP endpoints may be tested in a browser using SOAP online clients such as SOAPClient. See here and here for additional resources on CUAHSI WOF and WaterML 1.x.
WaterOneFlow and WaterML 1.0 are superseded by the 1.1 version. Please use that version instead, whenever possible.
OGC WaterML 2 is an encoding standard that incorporates elements of CUAHSI WaterML 1.x but is built on a different set of standards, including OGC GML and O&M. WaterML 2 responses are valid, but the standard is not fully implemented or widely tested. This is an experimental implementation. Known issues:
